Reference on Labor Law in Brazil, Mascaro Nascimento Advocacia Trabalhista was created in 1983 by Professor Amauri Mascaro Nascimento, former Judge of Labor and ex-public prosecutor, who, from his extensive knowledge, has become one of the leading jurists and specialists in the area in the country.

Currently offering a comprehensive legal counsel in the Labor area for several companies of all sizes and sectors of activity in Brazil, Mascaro Nascimento serves a large number of lawsuits in a timely and quality fashion.

With offices in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Mascaro Nascimento is recognized for outstanding capabilities of its members and leaders, the constant training of its staff and a structured working methodology, tested and approved by clients.

Headed by Marcelo Costa Mascaro Nascimento, professional with broad experience and solid qualification, the office is organized into units that offer the clients a personalized and high-quality service, always focused on instructing, preventing and managing the labor issues of its clients:

Routine Litigation Unit: focused on managing the Labor Litigation of companies.
Special Litigation Unit: specialized in cases of critical importance to the customer.
Social Security and Business Advisory Unit: support to companies in cases involving issues related to Social Security, and Business Advisory Services to HR, in order to prevent and mitigate labor and social security risks.
Suitors Unit: area dedicated to the treatment of lawsuits initiated by occupying executive level positions in companies’ management.

Amauri Mascaro Nascimento - General Counsel

Professor Emeritus of the Law School of the University of São Paulo, member of the Brazilian Academy of Legal Letters, Honorary President of the National Academy of Labor Law, former Labor Judge, former Justice Prosecutor, former Head of Legal Consulting of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, former Board Member of the OAB/SP, member of the Iberian-American Academy of Labor Law and Social Security, member of Mercosul Institute of Labor Law, author of several legal books, speaker at more than 750 lectures.

Professor Amauri was also awarded the Labor Judiciary Order Award by the Supreme Court of Labor and the Labor Order of Merit Award granted by the President of the Republic.

Marcelo Costa Mascaro Nascimento - partner and CEO

Marcelo Costa Mascaro Nascimento, lawyer with experience and knowledge, has worked in the area for 23 years, keeps the tradition and reference of Mascaro Nascimento in Labor Law.

Graduated at Mackenzie University, with Master’s Degree in Law at the University of São Paulo (USP), Marcelo Mascaro Nascimento started his career as a Labor Justice Lawyer, worked at the Childhood and Youth Judgeship and at Pinheiro Neto law office before joining Mascaro Nascimento Advocacia Trabalhista.
Besides running the office, Marcelo Mascaro Nascimento has active participation in the Associação dos Advogados Trabalhistas de São Paulo (São Paulo Association of Labor Lawyers) and in Amcham Brazil (American Chamber of Commerce). Besides, he was a member of the Labor Law Commission of OAB (Order of Attorneys of Brazil) from 2004 to 2009 and Labor Law and Labor Processes at Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas (FMU) in São Paulo.

Maria Cristina de Lucca – Partner and Special Litigation Leader

Graduated in Law at the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1983, postgraduate program in Corporate Law at Mackenzie University (1984), graduated in Business Administration at Mackenzie University (1987), postgraduate program in Civil Process at Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) of São Paulo (1992). Works as a preventive and litigation lawyer in labor, corporate, agreement, trademark and patent, estate, tax and administrative areas.

Luciene Fabíola Martins – Partner and Routine Litigation Leader

Graduated in Law at Centro Universitário de Araraquara (Uniara) and expert in Law and Labor Process at Faculdade Arthur Thomas (FAAT). Has worked at companies, law offices and the Labor Department of Justice. Responsible for the labor area (litigation and preventive law) in the office of Mascaro Nascimento in São Paulo.

José Mauro Leiroz - Litigation Leader (Rio de Janeiro)

Graduated in Law from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and Post-Graduate in Labor Law and Labor Procedural Law from Universidade Candido Mendes. Experience in unions, businesses, and law offices in the labor area, as well as in the civil and consumerism areas. Head of routine litigation at Mascaro Nascimento’s unit in Rio de Janeiro.

Carla Blanco Pousada Núñez - Business Advisory and Social Security Leader

Bachelor in Law from Catholic University of Santos, Lawyer registered in OAB/SP in 1997, PhD Program in Labor Law and Collective Bargaining at Complutense University of Madrid, Graduate Studies in Community International Law at Complutense University of Madrid. Professor of Law and Labor Process. She was the Director and Advisor at AATSP, Senior Attorney at Votorantim Metais; Coordinator of Núcleo Mascaro; Coordinator of labor relations at McDonald’s and Relationship Manager at Mascaro Nascimento. Currently leads the Business Advisory and Social Security area at Mascaro, working with labor management products for companies.

Jean Nicolau - Sports Law Leader

Graduated in Law from University of São Paulo (2006) and Social Communication, with specialization in Journalism from Faculdade Cásper Líbero (2007). Post-graduate (master) in International Trade Law from the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2009). A student of the Master’s Degree course at the University of São Paulo - Law School, with a dissertation in progress on the international arbitration of sporting disputes (scheduled for completion in 2014). An attorney with performance in sports law, international law, arbitration, and labor law applied to sports. Jean is also a sports journalist.

Rosa Maria dos Santos: Deadline and Hearing coordinator

Lato sensu Post-Graduated in Human Resources from the College of Economic Sciences of São Paulo of Fundação Escola de Comércio Álvares Penteado (1986). Bachelor in Administrative Sciences from Faculdade Oswaldo Cruz (1985). Bachelor in Legal and Social Sciences from Faculdade de Direito de Guarulhos (1991), University extension from Núcleo Mascaro, Latin and Writing course – Universidade Mackenzie, English language course at Cultural Center for Language Studies, Italian language course at Unione Italiana, with multiple labor law qualification courses. Multiple business trips to other states. Attorney in the labor area, in addition to coordinating the monitoring sector of Proceeding, Deadline and Hearing, internal and external trainees. She developed her career in large and medium-sized businesses, performing functions such as proceeding coordinator, personnel department officer, and administrative and financial manager.

Patrícia Helena Azevedo Lima - Procedure and Internal Auditing Coordinator

Graduated in Law from Pontifical Catholic University of Goiânia, Goiás (1986), specialized in labor law from Núcleo Mascaro & Mannrich de Estudos Jurídicos Ltda. (2004). Visiting Professor for several Lato sensu Graduate Studies courses in Labor Law and Procedure. Attorney and consultant with experience in the labor, litigation, and prevention areas. Co-author of the Labor Office Routine Manual of Mascaro Nascimento Advogados. Responsible for the office’s department of procedure and internal audit.

Works as a Consulting Lawyer by providing opinions in the labor area, under the coordination of Amauri Mascaro Nascimento, recognized instructor in the law area nationwide and worldwide who worked as a prosecutor of the Labor Department of Justice of the State of São Paulo, labor judge, legal consulting head of the Ministry of Labor and consultant.

With 32 books dedicated to the Labor Law – bibliographical references to law courses in Brazil - Amauri Mascaro Nascimento is full emeritus professor of Labor Law at the Law School, the University of São Paulo (USP).

Núcleo Mascaro aims to contribute to the development of Labor Law in Brazil, through extension courses and professional development (open and in company) aimed at lawyers, trade unionists, human resource managers, HR professionals, academics, managers and entrepreneurs. It is coordinated by Professor Sônia Mascaro Nascimento.
